DEFINITION
DEFINITION
Techno is the counterpart of the House of Detroit that sounds more high-tech and more mechanical, focusing not on the groove like Chicago House, but on rhythm and percussions.
This genre was born from the integration of sounds produced by modern methods in music the African American population of the early 1990s was listening to ("Electroclash" Funk, Chicago House, "Electric Jazz").
STRUCTURE GENERALE
GENERAL STRUCTURE
Tempo classique : 120 - 140 bpm.
Classical tempo: 120-140 bpm
.
The characteristic of Techno is the deconstructive manipulation of the sound. This will go through various methods depending on what the author is looking for:
1. either an artificial aspect using machine-like sounds,
2. or an aspect of illogical and unpredictable progression.
Both works, on the sound on the one hand, and on the structure on the other hand, are not exclusive one from the other and are each one alone sufficient to define the membership of a track to Techno.
1. The research of the artificial aspect is reflected in the abundance of percussions, with quite heavy effects, on a steady pace. The Detroit Techno gave an important role to both melody and bass line, but it is not always the case. From this point of view, Techno is based on a work on unrealistic sound combinations that made the genre a musical revolution at the time of its appearance (cf. Origin).
2. The evolutionary aspect is constructed by adding or removing layers of sound, in a cycle of four bars (4/4). Then come the arrangements, playing on the rhythm (syncopated or not) of the different layers, and on their respective effects to keep them away or bring them closer to each other.
PROVENANCE
ORIGIN

Association "hosted by The Electrifying Mojo, the album" Trans Europe Express "by Kraftwerk. They then inspired to create music that overcomes any conventional compositional structure (introduction / verse / chorus).
Originally Techno was quite close to the Electro House today, but sounds close to the disco. It is this characteristic that led some of the pioneers of its kind to consider the rest of electronic music like pale copies of Techno.
It then spread to Germany, the first country to organize the "Love Parade", a sort of techno parade. Techno is perceived by its founders as a crystallization of the fear of the post-industrial future and anger at the growing insecurity.
ARTISTES PRECURSEURS
PRECURSOR ARTISTS

- Detroit Techno (Detroit techno): This is the name that a judge would give the Techno in its most classic form. This is going to be able to display an aspect of musical deconstruction is research of artificial sounds, or both combined.
- Acid Techno: Detroit Techno to which was added the abundant use of synthesizer Roland TB-303 *
.
- Minimal Techno : A genus of recent onset, involving a smaller mass of instruments in an effort to further support both aspects of Techno (seen in structure). It is recognized by a particular characteristic contrast between bass and treble stretched and very short percussion.
Note that this style has long been a Berlin specialty through clubs like Berghain or Watergates, which are now headed to the Tech House (including Minimal House.)
- French Touch 2.0: Modern momentum French Touch (see source), extending his inspirations to Minimal Techno and urban genres such as rap and hip-hop. So we distinguish these two currents:
i) A stream of inspiration Techno, one of the precursors remains Laurent Garnier in terms of the contribution of Techno in France, but will be called Gesaffelstein for the Techno-inspired branch of the French House 2.0. This is indeed a sub-genre fusion of beat four-to-the-floor House and construction of song (or rather a deconstruction) like Techno.
ii) A urban, inspiration closer to hip-hop, which can sometimes even contain rap lyrics. Can be mentioned Busy P and Brodinski behind this current very popular on the French underground scene.
We did of course interested in techno in the first of these two currents.
